The Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences is a super specialty Hospital and one of the reputed and leading Institute established by the State Govt of Uttar Pradesh. The Chairman of the Institute is Hon'ble Minister Mr. Lalji Verma ji. RMLIMS is situated in Vibhuti Khand Gomti Nagar locality of Lucknow. Besides super specialty treatment, institute would provide D.M., M.C.H., M.D., P.H.D., P.D.C.C. Degrees.
The hospital would cater in addition to population of Lucknow ,the population from Barabanki,Faizabad and the belt of Eastern U.P. It is felt that poor and low resource population of this region who is deprived of specialised care especially when patients are critically ill or in case of severe trauma due to any cause would get benefited with the Hospital. Therefore the strong need for a State-of-art trauma center, plastic and burn unit, critical care medicine and oncology unit was felt which is specially deficient at SGPGIMS, one of the leading superspeciality hospitals in the city today to cater the needs of people of this region.Urban and rural population of 15 districts is deprived of easy availability of multi speciality and superspeciality at affordable cost at any government hospital. It was therefore considered that a new superspeciality hospital be constructed at Lko.This hospital is developed as a general plus superspeciality center with the close cooperation and expert guidance of SGPGIMS.The Institute will be developed as a supplementary and complementary to SGPGIMS.
The Institute will not only provide medical benefits to the population at large but also lead to several intangible benefits like reduced expenditure on health care by obviating the need to travel, general upliftment of the health status and well being of the society at large including employment opportunities.Additionally The Institute is being planned as a teaching hospital and would develop as a center for teaching and training in selected medical disciplines.
Objectives-
1.It would provide holistic medical care including general care in various general,medical/surgical specialities, and in selected super specialities which are not available or grossly inadequate in this region.
2.It will act as a secondary level as well as a selected tertiary level referral center for the poor population of this region at affordable cost.
3.To create a center of excellence for providing patient care and educational facilities of high order.
4.To provide training in para medical and allied fields.
5.Patient care, educational training and research facilities will be comlementary to SGPGIMS.
6.The medical Institute, with public service hospital will cater both to the poor patients who are unable to pay and to the population that has the capacity to pay on user charges at 'no profit no loss' basis.
